"Your wife will be like a fruitful grapevine, flourishing within your home.Your children will be like vigorous young olive trees as they sit around your table." Psalm 128:3-4

Many years ago, my husband and I heard Tony Evans speak in Tupelo, MS and when he talked about Godly parenting he mentioned this verse-it has always stuck with me. He talked about how olive trees take years to mature and actually begin producing fruit. If we picture our children as these young plants "around or Table" we will realize the importance of taking the time to care for them: preparing the soil of our homes and their hearts to grow in their love for the Lord, "watering" them with the word, adjusting their "climate", pruning them, preparing them to be useful when they are "mature", Although it is odd to picture my children as trees, In other versions, this verse says "olive shoots"-little seedlings. What a vision that gave my husband and I, realizing we had this awesome task of cultivating "great trees" from little seedlings. I am reminded of the saying "mighty oaks from little acorns grow." What a task that Lies ahead of us a parents-what a blessing to know the Lord is right by our side-leading and guiding.

In this spot every day, I hope to write a Bible verse or passage that I've stumbled upon or that has special meaning to me, in hopes that it will encourage others as His word constantly encourages me. Feel free to leave your own favorites!!
